The First Pieces of the Puzzle…

…seem to be falling into place for the Eagles this offseason. According to Coach Andy Reid the Eagles are probably going to have deals done with free agent Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins and left tackle Tra Thomas soon.

“I think that’ll all take place within the next few days or week or whatever,” said Reid, who is attending the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. “There’s communication.”

I would say a vast majority of Eagle fans would like to see Dawkins back, but I’d be weary of investing too much money into Thomas, who is turning 35 next season. Then again it sure would be nice to see Tra retire an Eagle, considering he’s been with the team since he was drafted in the first round in 1998.

    Love it. Those are two very important pieces to the Eagles’ Super Bowl puzzle.

    Resign B-Dawk.

    Resign Tra.

    Trade Lito for a 3rd somewhere.

    Trade a 1st and a 3rd for Boldin.

    Draft an OT with our other 1st.

    Release LJ, and Reggie.

    Draft a TE, RB, and WR with our remaining picks.

    Do that, and I think we’re set to make another run into the playoffs, hopefully to a SuperBowl Victory.

    Boy does that look good on paper…but a 3rd for Lito might be pushing your luck at this point. We’d also be assuming that Boldin does in fact get traded, which has seemed less and less likely over the past week or so. Definitely could happen, but not entirely likely.

    Heckert also said Reggie Brown would be staying with the team, but if the Birds get another receiver anything could happen.

    And if there’s any money left over, sign DMac for a few more years. Let him know he has the faith of the front office.

    Ugh… if Reggie returns, I’ll be pissed, but I think I might, barely be able to stomach it.

    But if LJ returns… I said it once, and I’ll say it again… I have a brand new pack of Duracell Dees waiting.
