Harry Kalas Tribute Night

Posted by Kieran Kelly On April - 18 - 2009

The Phillies blew a terrific start to the game in losing to the San Diego Padres 9-7 last night.

The game was great up until the Cole Hamels and the bullpen started to fall apart. The game was really secondary thought.

Philadelphians turned out in force to see the first game in Philadelphia since Harry the K passed away.

Seeing Harry’s signature on the field was awesome. It was sad, but a very nice tribute to a great part of Phillies history.

The pregame video brought tears to many fans eyes. Larry Anderson narrated the video. I recorded it, but due to my POS camera and people not respecting the rules of waiting until there was a break in the action to get to their seat, it came out terrible. Therefore, I will share some other’s videos. (From the700level.

The second video, from the 7th inning stretch, doesn’t capture the full song, but it captures enough. The whole stadium joined Harry in singing High Hopes. I really hope this becomes a tradition in Philadelphia. It was a great moment in Phillies history.

And lastly, I uploaded some of my pictures and will put them in a slideshow. They’re not the greatest, but just thought I’d put them up and share them.

Harry Kalas Tribute Night

It was a great night in Philly yesterday, even though our two teams lost. I won’t remember the outcome of yesterday’s game in a few years, but I’ll remember the terrific tribute Phillies fans showed. They’re already at the stadium this morning to pay their respects. I’ll be headed down later.
