Not only does rookie Claude Giroux grow fantastic playoff beards, but he also backs it up on the ice. His style is all playoffs. Hopefully you didn’t miss the 2nd period of the Flyers Penguins game today where he absolutely took over the ice. Not only did he beat the living crap out of a Penguin, but he also scored a go-ahead goal and made one of the most spectacular shorthanded plays I’ve ever seen. And here you thought the Flyers’ only shorthanded weapons were Richards, Gagne, and Carter.
So here’s to Claude Giroux, his Gordie Howe Hat-trick in the 2nd today, and all of the Flyers who came out for game 3 looking for blood. There was no time to even allow the refs to be a factor in this one. Gagne has 3 goals in 3 playoff games so far, Carter and Richards each get one today, a huge 6-3 win as the Flyers cut the Pens’ series lead in half, everyone is finishing checks, and the defense keeps playing playoff hockey making this a very good Sunday after a terrible week for Philadelphia sports. Flyers have drastically outplayed the Penguins twice in this series despite being down by 1 game. They need to come out and win one more in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
