Seriously, how awesome is Raul Ibanez? Ribbie has been a beast so far and he got things off to an early start against the Mets’ Oliver Perez by knocking in the Flyin’ Hawaiian after a leadoff triple.
The Phillies need a good start to today’s game in order to get over the loss last night. Perez is fighting for his spot in the rotation, so I’m sure he’s going to be trying his hardest to keep his job. Can’t really get under control though here early in the first.
The Phillies don’t really need this series as much as the Mets do. The Phillies know they have a good team and they have the mindset that they’re never out of it. That’s the difference so far this season between the two teams. The Phillies have the heart that the Mets lack.
The rest of this game and tomorrow’s game are going to go a long ways in how the Mets think they stack up to the Phillies. They got a nice first win against them last night, but the Phillies seem to be coming out of the gates early today.
It’s a long season, but this is still a big series for the two teams. I love this rivalry.
I’ll update during the game occasionally.

4:06 PM: Chooch swings and misses on ball 4 with the bases loaded. Forgot to mention that Utley is out with a bruised foot and Bruntlett is starting at 2nd base today.
4:11 PM: Moyer with two straight walks. Not good Jamie.
4:17 PM: Jose “showboat” Reyes pops up weekly to get the Phillies and Jamie Moyer out of a bases loaded jam.
4:25 PM: Victorino with a double to go with his triple, then he gets knocked in by Jayson Werth with a double to deep centerfield. 3-1 Fightins.
4:27 PM: Fox just played the new Harry Kalas commercial. I miss that voice. A Phillies game will never be the same without him.
5:32 PM: Welp, Ollie is out. Here’s his final line: (From Matt P)

4-2 Phillies, Moyer still in the game with the Mets throwing out a 40 year old rookie Takahashi.
5:36 PM: Been away for a bit, this guy needed to eat. I’ll try and keep this updated through the rest of the game.
5:39 PM: Screw you Daniel Murphy, you still suck in the outfield. 4-3 Phillies after Murphy’s HR off of Moyer.
5:41 PM: And you too Ramon Castro. I think it may be time for Moyer to come out. 2 straight HRs. Tied up at 4-4
5:44 PM: Moyer out after surrendering two straight HRs. Went 5 and 2/3s.
5:49 PM: Way too many Mets fans at the Bank today. How do they always manage to get tickets down here? Go the hell back to New York.
5:51 PM: Castillo gives the Mets the lead. Howard almost made a great play on the ball, but he wasn’t quick enough. 5-4 Mets, still not out of the inning though.
5:54 PM: Eyre couldn’t get out of the inning. Bases loaded again. 2 outs. Condrey on his way in.
5:58 PM: Condrey comes in and gets the Phillies out of the jam. Still down 5-4 though.
6:03 PM: Seriously? Ribbie is a beast. Game tying HR to right field. 5-5 all tied up.
6:20 PM: Bruntlett grounds into an inning ending double play. I would have pinch hit Utley in that spot. Still tied up going into the 8th,
6:24 PM: The Bridge to Lidge Ryan Madson now in the game. Hopefully he can keep this game tied.
6:28 PM: Madson just made Reyes look like a fool on that K. Now Delgado is pinch hitting.
6:29 PM Madson looks straight nasty right now…..and he walks him. Damn.
6:33 PM Werth with a great throw to nail Santos at the plate. Awesome. Bottom of the 8th tied up 5-5. Let’s do this Phillies.
6:36 PM Good to see Lidge warming up in the bullpen. Hopefully he can get back to being dominant again. Chase Utley up to bat to PH for Madson.
6:38 PM Putz gets the Phillies out in the bottom of the 8th. Now it’s on to the 9th all tied up. Lidge is on his way in.
6:48 PM Lidge intentionally walks Daniel Murphy to put men on 1st and 2nd with two out. Santos coming to bad.
6:50 PM Bruntlett with a nice little over the shoulder catch to end the inning. Bottom of the 9th time for the Phillies.
6:57 PM Putz shuts them down in the bottom of the ninth, ending with a K of Howard. Taschner on his way in for the Phillies.
7:09 PM Huge DP around the horn to end the top of the 10th.
7:15 PM Feliz with two short hits up the 3rd base line today. Matt Stairs is up at the plate now. Let’s do this.
7:17 PM The Mets would rather hit Stairs than have him end the game. Truthfully, I don’t blame them. Coste is in now to catch because Ruiz was lifted for Stairs.
7:21 PM Coste works the walk. Bases loaded for the Flyin’ Hawaiian and 2 outs.
7:23 PM . Wow. Didn’t think the game would end on a bases loaded walk. I’ll take it though.
