Here’s a shocker…pathological liar/egomaniac/attention-whore Brett Favre is talking to the Vikings about making yet another comeback. First we had to go through the never-ending chatter about “will he or won’t he”, then he finally made his tearful goodbye from Green Bay. Before you knew it he was back with the Jets, where he had an atrocious second half of the season before retiring yet again.
With the Jets in the thick of the playoff hunt Favre’s body gave out on him and his performance suffered. He threw just two touchdowns to nine interceptions over the last five games of the season and the Jets missed the postseason.
Most interesting about that whole situation was Favre’s motive for coming back. He openly admitted that he came back to the Jets out of spite for the Packers trading him…
“They sent me to New York because they didn’t play the Jets, …they knew we had very little chance of making the playoffs. So was I coming back to play because I loved the game or to prove them wrong? Probably a little bit of both. Maybe initially I came back for the wrong reasons. It was like, ‘OK, they don’t want me to play, then I’ll play somewhere else and show them I can still play.’”
This could really go a long way in explaining why Brett is considering coming back now. He wants revenge on the Packers, plain and simple. Nevermind the fact that Green Bay would have welcomed him back a couple years ago if he hadn’t been so indecisive about retiring in the first place.
Brett Favre is a pathetic, petty, brat. It was his fault he got run out of Green Bay in the first place, and now because of some perceived knock to his massive ego he feels like he needs to stick it to the front office who traded him away. Does he think of the loyal fans who still wear his jersey at Lambeau through all of this? Of course not…it’s all about Brett. Always has been, always will be.
Ironically enough I think him going to the Vikings actually makes that team worse. Sage Rosenfels isn’t anything special, but Brett Favre is a shadow of his former self. In the past he was a gunslinger who could turn nothing into something: now he is an old fart who throws way too many interceptions. Think he can still make it through a full season? Just ask the Jets, who saw him physically and mentally give up on that team in the final weeks of the season. When your teammates are calling for your benching that’s usually not a good sign.
Brett, if you have any bit of decency left in you turn down the Vikes and never come back to the game of football ever again. You have already tarnished your legacy and exposed yourself as a selfish has-been to everyone outside of Wisconsin; why destroy what’s left of your reputation there too?
Dishonorable Mention
A Super Bowl in London?!? Let me think this through: NO, NO, NO, NO, NEVERRRR! I know Goodell wants to increase the game’s popularity abroad but this is just a HORRIBLE idea! Why punish your primary fanbase in the U.S. by moving the biggest game of the season to a country that doesn’t fully appreciate the game? I’m baffled that they are even remotely considering this.
