Franklin Square Dedicates Annual Sculpture to the Phils

Posted by Kieran Kelly On May - 27 - 2009

There is an huge sand sculpture put up in Franklin Square here in Philly every year. 2007 was a celebration of King Tut and 2008 was about spending the summer in Philadephia.

Now, what could they have possibly decided to commemorate this year? That’s right. the 2009 WFC Philadelphia Phillies.

Apparently, there’s 150 tons of sand in there. Doesn’t look like that to me. An elephant weighs 6 tons. Does that really look like there’s 25 elephants worth of sand in there? Please.

Either way, this is just another celebration of the 2009 World Champions of Baseball.  I doubt this city will stop celebrating that anytime soon.
