Jordan Already Confident; Plus NBA Finals Prediction

Posted by Mike Santa Barbara On June - 1 - 2009

"The Proof Will Be in the Pudding"

Eddie Jordan was clearly a little nervous as he answered questions from the Philly media for the first time Monday.  However, if you look past the nervousness you saw a very confident Basketball coach. One who believes whole heartily in his system and his work ethic.

Per usual the Philadelphia media did not hold back, they asked all the tough questions. To his credit Jordan had an answer for all of them. When asked about Samuel Dalembert Jordan said all of the right things and added a little more. Saying how it was his responsibility to get Samuel to “buy in.” Jordan also broke down his offensive system, that it would allow everyone on the floor to make each other better players. He said players like Elton Brand would be able to make their teammates better intern making themselves better.

So, there’s a lot of “buying in” to do here. Something I think all Sixer fans should do for Eddie Jordan. Give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s not fresh off the street , he’s been there and been successful. Jordan is widely known around the league as a “student of the game,” as Ed Stefanski quoted from the likes of Pat Riley and Jerry West during Monday’s press conference. So let him teach this young Sixer team, and let’s see what happens.

My Thoughts on LeBron

First, LeBron James, the chosen one if you will. Well we were all “witnesses” to LeBron’s lack of sportsmanship after a game 6 loss in the Conference Finals against Orlando. Respect isn’t a one way street LeBron, you have to give it to get it. Can you be upset you lost? Of course, but your not bigger then your team or the league. Your the supposed leader, you have a responsibility to your teammates. It just proves how immature you still are and how much you still have left to learn. All playoffs long people were yearning for the LeBron vs Kobe matchup in the Finals. So we could all know once and for all who was the better player. After this stunt by LeBron I’m not sure he should even be in the conversation. Until he proves he can be a professional he’s just another superstar, not the best, not yet. Grow up LeBron.

I’ll finish with this classic tweet from our buddy Tommy  (you can follow him @TommymacWFC):

“If you buy a hummer before graduating high school, you’ll never win an NBA title.”

NBA Finals

I’ll be covering each game with some recaps and thoughts. Tomorrow I’ll be posting a full preview with my prediction, you didn’t think I’d just give it to you did you? Gotta tease you a little bit, so check back tomorrow!
