Odd lineup leads to an odd game

As you can see in the picture at left, provided by CSN’s John Finger, this is an odd lineup. Matt Stairs even asked for a picture of the lineup card because he knew how weird it was.

Three bench players getting the start today. Stairs in left, Bako at catcher, and Dobbs at first for Howard.

The Phillies were struggling during today’s game up until the 7th inning. All of a sudden, a misplayed ball by the Orioles was turned into two straight doubles, a hit, and then a monstrous shot by Howard to give the Phillies the lead. That HR was the kind of HR that could turn the season around and get the Phillies over their recent struggles.

Chan Ho Park even added to the weirdness by giving a quick inning from the bullpen. When was the last time that happened?

And then the game turned yet again. Ryan Madson continued to struggle in the closer’s role, giving up a solo HR, and then a 2 run HR to give the O’s the lead again.

Of course, the Phillies don’t have Brad Lidge to lock down the game, and that led to the Phillies losing for the 5th consecutive time.

This is getting ridiculous.
