Road woes, home woes, all kinds of woes

It looks like the Phillies’ struggles at home have followed them on the road.

After going 9-0 in Atlanta last year, the Phillies were swept by the Braves. The loss last night dropped the Phillies into a tie with the Marlins for 1st place in the NL East. The Marlins? Come on Phils. While everyone knew the Marlins were young and had a good pitching staff, I never thought they’d be in a tie for first at this point in the season.

The Phillies have been beasts on the road so far this season, but they struggled in their 3 games against Atlanta. Hopefully they leave their struggles behind them once and for all.

The Phillies are trotting out Rodrigo Lopez against the Mets tonight in his first start in the majors since 2007. I was hoping to see Carrasco in this spot, but that’s not happening.

In other news, Jack Taschner has been designated for assignment by the Phillies. I’m glad that Trashner is finally going. He hasn’t really been the pitcher the Phillies need out of the bullpen. I just hope the Phillies can find a better pitcher to fill that spot, which shouldn’t be too hard.

Brett Myers was also moved to the 60 day disabled list in order to clear some roster space. He has been cleared to start throwing in a few weeks, so it’s not totally out of the picture that he could come back this season, but not very likely.

The Phillies need to turn things around and quick. They had the opportunity to run away with the division, but lost that chance. Lucky for them, the rest of the NL East has been worse than the Phillies, if you can believe that.

This series would be a perfect time to start their turnaround.
