Chase Utley made the team for the 4th consecutive year. He has been a great player for the Phils over the past 4 years and the league has noticed. He more than deserved to go.

Raul Ibanez also was named to the ASG, the first time in his career he’s done so. Ribbie has been the catalyst behind the Phillies offense this season and he has been sorely missed over the past few weeks. The team has struggled recently, and the sooner he gets back, the better.

Ryan Howard was never going to beat out the Cardinals’ Albert Pujols with the ASG being played in St. Louis, but he made the team as one of Charlie Manuel’s reserve picks. Howard has become more of an all-around player this season, and his improved defense has been incredible compared to season’ past. He deserves this nod.

Shane Victorino had a chance to be named by Cholly, but in the end, he became one of the final 5 players whose fate will be determined by the fans in a final vote. He is up against some formidable candidates, but we need to do our part. We got Bobby Abreu in a few years ago, so we can definitely do the same for Shane Vic.
