Flyin’ Hawaiian needs your help, but not really

Posted by Kieran Kelly On July - 9 - 2009

In the latest update for the Final Vote standings, at 2 PM ET, Shane Victorino still held a slight edge over Pablo Sandoval for the last spot on the National League All Star roster.

The Detroit Tigers have come up with a brillian idea for this Final Vote. They’re promoting their own Brandon Inge and Shane Victoino as a paring and are calling it “Bran Torino.” That is an epic marketing win.

I’m sure Shane appreciates all the voting that people out there are doing, but at this point, I don’t think he really needs your help anymore. Carlos Beltran has been ruled out of the game due to injury. He was voted in as the staring CF, but he will now need to be replaced. Since he was voted in by the fans, and not the players, Charlie Manuel can pick anybody to replace him, not necessarily the next person on the list in the players vote. With Cholly being the manager of the NL team, I’m sure he’ll do whatever it takes to get Victorino in the game.

So, what it boils down to, in my opinon, is that Shane will make the ASG no matter what. It will be nice if he does get in through the final vote, but if he doesn’t, I’m sure Manuel will name him to the team.

There are only 102 minutes left to vote, so get out there and vote! Go here to vote as many times as you want.
