Sixers Latest: Schedule announced, Marshall gone, and Primoz Brezec Mania

Posted by Mike Santa Barbara On August - 7 - 2009

Primoz Brezec Mania!!!!!!!

Things are picking up in Sixerland. Are these things exciting in any way? I guess that depends on your definition of exciting.

The Sixers schedule was released! Yah!

The Sixers announced that they will not be brining back Donyell Marshall! Anybody care? Sure the guy was clutch and he played ten times better then most people thought he would. However, isn’t Jason Kapono a better option at that position? Kapono is younger, able to play more minutes, and a better 3-point shooter as well.

So, are you excited yet?

No?

Well you won’t believe what I have in store for you!

The Sixers have agreed in principle to bringing back Royal Ivey and signing Center Primoz Brezec! That’s right I’m talking about THAT Primoz Brezec.

Bringing back Ivey is a solid move for the Sixers though. He gave the Sixers some much needed defensive help off the bench. He played very well, very quietly, a quality  a team likes in a solid bench player.

As for Brezec, he spent last season playing over-seas. He was playing in Italy for Lottomatica Roma where he averaged  9.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, shooting above 60% from the field.

The Sixers needed a backup Center after letting Theo Ratliff go, and most importantly they needed a cheap replacement. Enter Primoz Brezec.

So are these moves exciting?

Absolutely not.

Welcome to the off-season of an NBA team caught up in cap hell.
