Lidge is a complete liability this year, last year is history. There is no way the Phillies advance in the playoffs with Lidge closing. Period. There should be no more discussion (for now) regarding the closer position. Considering what he did last season, he gets a mulligan for the remainder of the regular season. It's only fair. HOWEVER, he blows one (1) save in the Playoffs, and it's "Closer by Committee." To boost his confidence, Charlie should do what he has done a few times earlier in the season. He should give Lidge the ball with 1 or 2 outs. At least if he walks the 1st guy he faces, he can get bailed out with a double play. I agree.
