This is based on historical data which assigns defensive values to each defenseman and forward. Pronger and Timmonen are above average, average being 4.0 for defenseman, and 2.0 for forwards. 2 of the Flyer defensemen were below the average for forwards, and 10 of the forwards were below average . This results in high numbers of shots on goal. As for Pronger, clearly he has a rep for cheap shots and as a head hunter. Certainly the Penguins are aware of this, but attempts to hurt Crosby and Malkin will likely result in that A+ forward squad playing with their heads on a swivel.
