Yes, more pictures of Emery. (Neat1325)
Don’t miss it. I love the fact that Emery has been spectacular. He opened the regular season and his Flyers career with a shutout in Carolina, and tonight he made Martin Brodeur look like a rookie. Granted that had more to do with the Flyers “Relentless” offensive play, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt after numerous jump-out-of-your-seat saves. Razor was aggressive and handled the puck better than Biron ever could (outside of his minor penalty – though he wouldn’t be Emery if he didn’t take a penalty every once in a while).
All of this of course does not change the fact that I’m running out of images of our orange-clad stone wall. I either need more pictures, or I need some hat-tricks…STAT.
Back to “Relentless” though. When the Flyers’ 2009-10 tagline broke out I didn’t like it. It was a little better than “Hungry for More”, but it’s still a far cry from “Back with a Vengeance.” That said, it’s growing on me. Our offense has been absolutely relentless on the puck so far this season. Our forwards are desperate to get the puck. Emery is desperate to make saves. Everyone is playing as if it matters for a change.
We had our mental lapses at the end of the Devils’ game of course, but this was when the fourth line was getting the most ice time. We also had Syvret and Parent out there more when our lead got too big to expect a Devils’ comeback. I’m okay with that. We look like the Flyers that we should’ve been the last couple of seasons now, only with more talent and pent up aggression. I love it.
Not to be outdone, rookie James van Riemsdyk had a two point night in front of his friends and family. Good for him and even better for the team. The rook now leads the team in points:

This week is a couple of home games. Washington comes to town on Tuesday, and then Pittsburgh drives cross-state Thursday. Finally we close out the week of home games with the Anaheim Ducks. All three teams are Stanley Cup contenders, but they’re coming to us. The ‘Canes and Devs were good tests, but these are the ones you better be awake for. A little more punishment for Washington? A little revenge on Pittsburgh? A real Broad Street style brawl against Anaheim? I’ll take it. We can’t just be satisfied with a couple of solid wins against playoff teams. We need to be, for lack of a more appropriate word, relentless!
