This Phillies team sure has a way with words don’t they?
After Chase Utley uttered the unforgettable “World f*cking Champions!” after last season’s World Series parade, Shane Victorino stepped up to the plate to give us the 2009 version of WFC.
In the top of the 9th, with Ryan Howard at bat, Jimmy Rollins at 3rd and Chase Utley at 1st, RyHo hit a fly ball to center that was deep enough for Rollins to score on the tag.
As Rollins got to the dugout, the TBS cameras clearly picked up a very excited Shane Victorino yelling “F*ck yeah Jimmy!” I’m surprised it made it past the censors, but it was nearly 2 AM at this point anyways, so who cares. TBS later aired it again when showing Rollins’ reception in the dugout after the game. I’m going to be scouring the interwebs for video proof and I’ll post it as soon as I find it. UPDATE: PhiladelphiaWillDo has the audio. Great stuff.
Oh yeah, Brad Lidge came into a one run game and held the lead to get the Phillies within one win of the NLCS, but a new rallying cry for this team is much more important right?
The Phillies and Rockies play again at 6:07 EST today with the Fightins’ going for the always rare 2 wins in 1 day. With Cliff Lee on the mound, I’d say they have a pretty good shot at closing this series out. As CSN Philly’s John Finger pointed out, the Phillies are 5-1 in games in which they can clinch something since 2007. Beating Clifton Phifer requires a team to bring it’s A game, and after last night’s loss, I just don’t see the Rockies having enough to beat the Phillies.
The Phillies are going to lock the series up tonight and get ready to head to Los Angeles on Thursday for a repeat of last year’s NLCS.
It’s Win Day for the Phillies.
