I'm not defending Stevens at all, but let's go back 3,4 even 5 coaches - it's still the same team. (For the most part) talent heavy, but lacking that heart and determination to stay focused for 60 minutes of play. We saw it under Hitchcock, Nielson, Cashman, Murray et. al.. At some point, it's time to stop blaming the coaching staff and look even deeper into the team mentality and psyche. From the top (Mr. Snider) on down to the trainers.

There's also been a tendency to swing widely from "a coach the players like" to a "disciplinarian". Maybe - if it's time to switch the coaches - they could locate someone with balance - someone who's not always the evil overlord taskmaster, but also someone that's not (seemingly) buddy buddy with the players. We have a good, young core of players - the team needs stability - from top to bottom - to be able to take the next step.
